My
name is Adam J. Krim. I practiced law for 25 years,
both in the United States and abroad, in a variety
of settings ranging from government to private
sector and from large firm to small firm practice.
From my experience, I’ve learned that it is possible
to have a successful professional career AND a
satisfying, fulfilling personal life. That is why I
founded Res Ipsa Coaching, LLC - to help you have the
same.
Becoming an Attorney
While I was growing up, family meals were
accompanied by conversations led by my father, also
an attorney, discussing the issues of his latest
case. Through this early exposure to legal issues, I
knew I could become a good attorney. I emphasize
“good attorney” for the simple reason that although
I knew I could succeed in the field, I did not feel
drawn to practice law.
During my sophomore year at Queens College of the
City University of New York, I was exposed to
philosophy, my first academic love, and dreamed of
becoming a college professor. After a year and a
half of graduate school at the University of
California, San Diego, however, I decided to pursue
a more economically practical career path, and
entered Cardozo School of Law. I truly enjoyed law
school, and encountered a certain measure of
success: I won the Best Brief award in the Moot
Court Competition during my 2L year; and as a 3L I
was the Editor-in-Chief of the Moot Court Board.
After graduating from Cardozo School of Law in 1983,
I was admitted to the Bar of the State of New York
in 1984 and began my career as a practicing
attorney.
An Absence of Passion
As the years passed, I realized that something
was missing: I felt an absence of passion for the
practice of the Law. After I was approached to
help organize my 25 year law school class reunion, I
decided to reclaim my life by combining my love of teaching and guiding
people with my experience as an attorney. I realized
how helpful it would have been to have had a mentor,
a teacher, a coach, as I struggled to build a
successful career. That's the reason I trained to become
a Certified Professional Coach, and devoted
myself to coaching attorneys through the many
challenges they face on a daily basis.
Passion Regained
Certified Professional Coach is the
certification awarded by the Institute for
Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC), one of the
premier coach training programs accredited by the
International Coach Federation (the ICF). Following
my
CPC certification, I received the
ELI-MP certification, which trained me to conduct
debriefs of the Energy
Leadership Index Assessment. The Energy
Leadership Index Assessment measures, inter alia,
one’s current potential leadership ability and one’s
current level of engagement in life. In addition, I
earned the ACC credential from the ICF.
As a
Certified Professional Coach, I partner with
attorneys to help them identify their particular
challenges. Together, we set S.M.A.R.T.*
action plans and work toward shifting perspectives
and attitudes in
approaching and meeting those challenges.
